Holy Week!

Holy Week is here and I invite you to join us. Unfortunately this whole week is often overlooked or ignored as American Christianity wants to just avoid talk of suffering and things that require commitment. But this is the most blessed time of the year here at Hope and our sister congregation, Shepherd of the Hills, in Horseshoe Bend. Services are as follows:

Passion (Palm) Sunday: 10:45am at Hope and 8am at Shepherd of the Hills
Monday in Holy Week: 9am Matins (reading from John is a prelude to the Passion account)
Tuesday in Holy Week: 9am Matins (focus upon the Passion account of Christ from Mark)
Wednesday in Holy Week: 9am Matins (focus upon Passion account of Christ from Luke)
Holy Thursday: 7pm at Hope and 4pm at Shepherd of the Hills
Good Friday: 7pm at Hope and 4pm at Shepherd of the Hills
Easter Vigil: 7pm at Hope ONLY
The Resurrection of our Lord: 10:45am at Hope and 8am at Shepherd of the Hills

If you have never attended these services I encourage you to check them out. They will likely be quiet different from the pop-Christianity that many use to entertain themselves with. These are not mournful services but they are contemplative. They will challenge you to ponder upon your own sin and Christ’s reconciliation for you.

Join us throughout these eight days as Jesus rides triumphantly into Jerusalem and as we focus upon his passion (from the Latin, passio, which means to suffer) for us. These days between Passion and Easter Sunday are important and should not be overlooked as we focus upon the who, what, when, where, why, and how of Jesus Christ. For without this most precious work of Jesus we could have no resurrection. Without his death for our sins we have no reason to celebrate the resurrection.

Come and hear the most important message of all of history. If you have any questions and want to learn more about these service or about the Lutheran Church in general, do not hesitate to call or message me.
