Fulfilling Great Need by Serving the Most Vulnerable.

While we knew that what we were doing is relatively unique in Batesville, we didn’t know how helpful it was till the Chairman of our Congregation, David Goodwin, did a little research.  Children need diapers.

Struggling with Diaper Need: 1 in 3 U.S. families experiences acute diaper need, forcing parents to choose between basic essentials like fuel, food, and medical supplies.

Excluded from SNAP & WIC: Government assistance programs (SNAP & WIC) do NOT cover diapers, wipes, or hygiene products, leaving a severe financial gap for young families and single parents.

Direct Financial Burden: A single infant requires $80–$100/month in diapers alone. $1200 a year for diapers alone!  Unmet needs lead to skin complications and stress for parents as parents leave diapers on creating hygiene problems, especially diaper rash and even disease.  This past month we gave away 6090 diapers to 264 children!

We are grateful for groups that do diaper drives like the Montessori Christian Academy that did a diaper drive for us at their Thanksgiving Dinner last year.  Our neighbors down the road at The University of Arkansas Community College–Batesville and our sister congregation, Our Shepherd Lutheran in Searcy are both planning to do.  Individuals from the community come by and deliver a package of diapers (like the kind lady pictured above–ugh, I forgot her name!), a sack of baby food, or containers of formula.  Every little bit helps us to provide just a little more to children.

Another great gift is that of time.  Individuals not just from Hope Lutheran Church but also the community volunteers.  One of our local 4-H Chapters, Rooted and Raised, is scheduled to help wrap diapers in August.  What an excellent opportunity these youth get to see and understand how so many are in need.

If you would like to donate to the purchase of diapers we invite you to scan the QR code.  100% of the proceeds go to the purchase of these essential baby items thanks to the generosity of our volunteers to give of their time.  All sorts of help is needed.  For more information you can call us at 870-793-3078 or email

Our Pantry will be open to all again Monday, August 10, 5-7pm and Saturday August 15, 9-11am (breakfast also provided!)

Peace be with you,

Pastor Heinecke
