Immersed in the Urgency of the Word
This week, on August 27, at 6:30pm, we begin our midweek services.

We will be using the Daily Office of Evening Prayer as we study the book of Acts. This fascinating insight into the first forty years or so of the early church is foundational for our life in Christ. If we want to understand Christianity in the 21st century, we must be immersed in what the apostles and early evangelists were up against in the first century for the world seeks to immerse you in its cares and worries.
If you think the Church is small now, just look at what they were up against back then. If you desire unity of churches today, then you must see how unity was maintained amongst the early Christians. If you wonder if doctrine really matters then you need to be immersed in the book of Acts.
We live in a sense of urgency and the Day of the Lord is near. Zephaniah 1:7 prophesies, “Be silent before the Lord GOD! For the day of the LORD is near; the LORD has prepared a sacrifice and consecrated his guests.”
Today, let us begin to come together, as Hebrews 10:23-25 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Paul understood this issue greatly. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul writes in Romans 13:11-12 “Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
It is time to wake up and be ready. Come together this evening and be armed for battle as the devil seeks to lull you into a sense of false security. Be strengthened by gathering together for Christ your light has appeared for Jesus Christ is the light of the world, the light no darkness can overcome, who will still way with us and never abandon us.
I invite you to join us on Wednesday’s at 6:30pm, starting on August 27, as we immersed into the book of Acts and urgently give thanks for the work of the evangelists in the early church.
